Day/Night

Remember when you were little? How, in the bright summer days, your parents would line up your toy dinosaurs at the windowsill, giving them a glimpse of what they were missing out there?

When night fell those dinosaurs would radiate the light of the day. They'd sneak into your room, one by one, and your parents would tell you to go find them. Remember searching through your dark room for that rosy glow coming from under your covers, your closet, your drawers?

Remember being terrified of forgetting one in case it came alive and ate you?

Just A Writer... But My Pal.

[The last post I posted was my 365th. Finally, after three years.]

Days like these
with that Spring smell around
remind me of
childhood.

Scrape of chalk on concrete,
bouncing balls above wires and
hool-ing hoops around arms.

The clack of street hockey
as I watched Nicks friends play.

Skinned knees from trying too hard,
blood from a skateboard accident and
my name hollered from
front porches when the sun

goes
down.

Boy: I can't cross my legs.
Me: Really?
Boy: Yeah, my pants are too tight.
Girl: Liar! You can't cross them without pants on either.

And something about a big friendly bear.

Run Away

Sometimes, when I'm sitting on the bus, I wonder what would happen if there was an accident and no one could escape this bus? How would the drama unfold? Would the old lady next to me offer to share her mystery meat sandwich, or would she quickly gobble it down before we noticed? And, of course, the inevitable: who would be eaten first?

But then, of course, we drive out from under the Decary expressway and these thoughts disappear. I go home and forget about this near-death experience until tomorrow.

After Math

I miss doing this, especially now that life is so full and memorable. There are things that I want written down.

Most of it would be pointless boy drivel... but it makes me happy :)

Text

No pictures.... yet.
But we'll try and do this anyway.
Tuesday, January 19th
Avery's birthday!!! Woohaa.
Plan sprung into action at 8:00 sharp with my wakeup from a night of no sleeping.
Hopped on the bus [with stereotypically bearded man, haha] and, like, forever later I was there.

Avery: Anna!

Thanks for helping, Jess :)
Went to the Oval and felt like a real Abbotteer.

NoName: You know how I know you're best friends?

Got chatted up by some random guy who submitted Avery to [not that kind] of test. Which she lost. Better luck next time.
Everyone left me... but then Geedi found me!
We talked nonsense and then she left me... and then Avery was back!

Do you always have water bottles like that? /high pitched voice

Met up with Dad and then sat in the basement and fantasized about singing men. Sigh.
Home, nap, dinner. School tomorrow!

Monday, January 18th
Boring day.

Sunday, January 17th
Out with Kim and Daniel in the afternoon, over to Angrignon.

Kim: Am I a bad driver?
NotKim: No, I felt very safe.
Kim: Really? Thanks!
NotKim: ...

NotKim: Don't drop that pill.
...drops.
NotKim: What did I JUST say?!
Kim: I am going to eat it anyway.

She bought her headphones then we headed over to the mall and did some other stuff.
Bus back to Daniel's video store and picked out [rather disturbing] films.

Facetious.

Does your mom touch people?

Back home for dinner, then POWER OUTAGE and scary X-Files music in the night time.

Saturday, January 16th
...not much.
Attempted to repair my laptop and went to bed frustrated and with a giant headache at like 9:30.

Friday, January 15th
Went light shopping in the morning, confusing stores.
Met Dana at Namur in the afternoon after some debating, but ended up great!
Even though it was the wrong movie, but it was a good wrong movie. With a surprisngly un-creepy Phillip Seymour Hoffmann. Woop.
Talked music, then bus home for a dinner of muffin. Good stuff.
